PocketMetro 2.0 goes to New York

ClockLabs Ltd has released PocketMetro 2.0 New York, covering 468 stations and 31 lines.

London, UK, 7 September 2004
PocketMetro 2.0 turns any Java-capable mobile phone into a powerful trip planner. It knows everything about the 468 stations and the 31 lines that compose the New York subway, the biggest in the world. With all this data, it can instantaneously compute the shortest path between two stations, taking into account the current day and time, closed lines and required transfers. The personalized roadmap is complete with directions, line changes and travel time. .

PocketMetro 2.0 does not work like a WAP service: it does not use a remote server to find the best route. The roadmap is integrally computed by the mobile phone. So PocketMetro 2.0 will work in areas not covered by any carrier (like underground). Also, it costs nothing to use: there is no need for a WAP or GPRS plan. PocketMetro 2.0 is already available for London and Paris, and more cities are on the way. Fully-functional trial versions can be downloaded for free from http://www.clocklabs.com or directly to a mobile phone from http://wap.clocklabs.com.
