ClockLabs Ltd launches PocketMetro 2.1
After several months in development, ClockLabs Ltd launches an updated version of its flagship product: PocketMetro 2.1.
London, UK, 23 December 2004
ClockLabs Ltd today launches a new and improved version
of its leading product: PocketMetro 2.1. PocketMetro 2.1 is the only travel guide for public transportation
networks compatible with mobile phones that support Java. With an integrated description of each public
transportation network, it can compute the shortest travel between two tube or light rail stations,
instantaneously. It gives you a complete roadmap between the start station and the end station, including
the line changes. PocketMetro 2.1
also takes into account the current day and time, so it can avoid closed stations and take the express
lines.
New features
Every single functionality of PocketMetro has been overhauled to get to this new version. PocketMetro 2.1 is faster and gives better and more realistic directions, especially for large networks. The missing feature most wanted by users has been implemented: in most cases, PocketMetro 2.1 returns two different roadmaps: the fastest one and the one with the least changes. This allow the user to pick the best roadmap according to the circumstances.
Of course, all the existing features of PocketMetro have been retained. Like the previous version, PocketMetro 2.1 does not work like a WAP service: it does not use a remote server to find the best route. The route is integrally computed by the mobile phone. This means that PocketMetro 2.1 will work in areas not covered by any carrier (like underground). Also, it costs nothing to use: there is no need for a WAP or GPRS plan.
Availability
PocketMetro 2.1 is available for London, Paris and New York, and more cities are on the way. Fully-functional trial versions can be downloaded for free from http://www.clocklabs.com or directly to a mobile phone from http://wap.clocklabs.com.
